Dear Friends and Family,National Foster Care Month is observed in the United States during the month of May every year. This year, we are supporting a special project: a place for students to call home in Sacramento´s State Guardian Scholars Program. This promising space will provide a much needed structure to directly support the youth. During this month, Power to Soar Foundation will match every dollar you donate up to $5000. We count on your contribution!

THE PROJECTBellow, we can find a summary of Tina Jordan, Ed. D. (AVP, Strategic Success Initiatives; Director PARC) letter: The Guardian Scholars Program has been on campus since 2006. However, because of limited space on campus, this program has not had an adequate place for students. We are now housed in a small room in Student Affairs that has the capacity to hold only 10 people at time. There is no room for private counseling, workshops, and regular mentoring events. Nor is there adequate space to provide supplemental academic support for students on a daily basis. Fortunately, the Guardian Scholars Program will be moving to a promising space. This new home for scholars is three times the size of where we are now. It includes a large room for events and workshops, two offices for private counseling, and a small room for tutoring. We have secured partial funding for the project from a donor. However, we anticipate the cost will be up to $50,000, and we do not have enough funding to cover all of the renovations. This estimate includes furniture, paint, carpet, desks and tables.
